A replica of Hamel's ship. Hamel was a Dutch seaman who along with several mates was shipwrecked on Jeju-do in the 1650s. They were on a journey from Taiwan to Japan. At the time any foreigner who ended up in Korea was not allowed to leave. (The Hermit Kingdom). They were allowed to work and earn money but were always under surveillance. Although they had the sympathy of some who thought they should be able to leave it was 13 years before they could buy a boat from a sympathetic fisherman who agreed to taking their money and then to claim that they had stolen it, so that he would not be in trouble. They made it to Japan only to be held there for another year before being permitted to leave. Hamel was the first Westerner to write about Korea which he did in the form of a journal.
It looks very much like Banks Peninsula doesn't it?
Keystones. They are built in particular places to balance the opposing energies of the Earth.

Guardian figure on the side of the pathway into the village.
The "witch's" house.
Jeju is very windy so roofs are held down by ropes weighted with stones
