JEJU-DO

In January this year we went, with Colin's co-teacher and her family, to Jeju-do ("do" means "island"). It was a lovely break and wonderful to see sea and sky looking similar to the way it is at home. A glorious contrast to the brown, burnt look of the peninsula, which looks like Central Otago in a drought but without the redeeming features of clear, blue skies and wonderful light. In other words imagine the dry, dusty hills of Central Otago with grey polluted skies that only allow visibility for up to about a kilometer, the temperature mostly around zero and you've got Korea in winter.
